1. Prayer for Healing A Broken Heart

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”

– Psalm 147:3

Lord,

My heart feels so shattered today. I don’t know how to go through each day while my heart feels torn into pieces. No matter how much I try to grasp onto each piece, it just slips through my hands again and again. I know that You alone can mend my broken heart. Your word says that You heal the brokenhearted and that You bind up their wounds.

I ask that You would heal my heart, Lord. Please bind up the wounds of my heart, and make me whole again. On my own, and in my strength I cannot face another day. But through Your healing hands, I know that You can carry me through. I give You every piece of me, knowing that You are faithful and able to make it whole. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

2. Prayer for Peace Over Your Thoughts

“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”

– Isaiah 26:3

God,

I pray for Your peace to guard my heart and mind today. As I process this heartbreak, it is easy for my thoughts to run away with me. There are thoughts that are keeping me from focusing on You, and from seeing Your truth in this situation. I ask that You would help me to keep my mind stayed on You.

When I am tempted to overthink, or to believe things that are contrary to Your word, I ask that You would help me to submit those invasive thoughts to You. Please grant me Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Help me to hold captive every thought to Your word. Let me think of those things that You call honorable, lovely, praiseworthy and pure. Help me to rest my mind, heart and soul in Your peaceful presence. I surrender it all to You. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

3. A Prayer for Strength

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”

– Psalm 46:1

Father,

I am so grateful that I can turn to You amid my loss and pain. I confess that some days I am not sure how to carry on, how to take it one day at a time. I am thankful that You never leave or forsake me, especially not in those of need and brokenness.

Though I may hide what I am truly going through from others. There is nothing that is hidden from Your sight. You see my silent tears, and You know of the tear that has broken my heart in two. Some days I don’t have the strength to go on. But Lord, I turn to You, leaning on Your strength. I run to You, as my refuge. My place of peace and safety.

In my very weakness, You are strong. Lift me up in Your strength Lord, and help me to fall on You. Thank You that You are a very present help in troubled times, and that You do not hide Your face from me. I don’t have to find refuge in lesser places when You have reached out Your hand to me. Remind me of this when I am tempted to turn elsewhere. Please renew my strength according to Your promises, and remind me to lean on You always. In Jesus’ name, amen.

4. A Prayer for Comfort

“The lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

– Psalm 34:18

Lord,

Today my hurt is hurting more than I can take. Sometimes I feel so alone in this hurt, and it feels as though the world around me has turned dark. Like it has lost all its hope and meaning. I know that that’s not true, because You are my hope and meaning in this world.

But sometimes it’s hard to see through Your tears. So today I am seeking Your comfort, Lord. Your word says that You are close to the brokenhearted and that You save those with a crushed spirit. Help me to know that You are near today. More than that, help me to remember that You are near and that You draw close to those who draw near to You.

When I am tempted to turn to other things for comfort, remind me that You alone can put my heart together again. The things of this world fail me. Though they may seem wise and promise comfort, it is not something that lasts nor heals the hurt. Only You can do that. You are my rock, Lord and it is on You that I lean. It is in You that I trust and it is in You that I find my hope through this storm. Please fill my heart with Your comfort and peace. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

5. Prayer To Trust God’s Plan

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

– Romans 8:28

Heavenly Father,

Today I am reminded that there is no one like You. No one who holds all the earth together, who knows each one of us so entirely and who is sovereign over all things. Though it is hard to make sense of this hurt, I know that even when I can’t see Your plan through all of this, I can always trust Your heart. Help me to surrender my own plans, and wisdom and to submit to Your plans.

I know that You never guaranteed us a life free from pain. The world is rampant with sin and the pain that it causes. Yet amid this fallen world, You are working out all things for the good of those who love You and are called according to Your purposes. Sometimes this slips my mind, and all I can see is the pain that I am currently experiencing.

I ask that You would help me to put it into perspective with eternity. This moment only lasts for a little while, but the joy that I get to experience in Christ lasts for forever. Help me to remember

this on days when I feel hopeless or lost. Please bind up my broken heart, and help me to find peace in knowing that You have a plan for me. In Jesus’ name, amen.

6. Prayer to Move On From A Breakup

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”

– 1 Peter 5:7

Lord,

My thoughts feel so consumed with this breakup. I feel anxious about what the future holds, and how I’ll move on from this. Please help me to take my eyes off of the hurt and devastation of this breakup. Help me fix my eyes on You, knowing that You care for me.

Though I may have had my own plans for this relationship, I know Lord that Your plans are greater than mine. Please help me to place my trust in You, and Your wisdom. I ask that You would help me heal from this heartbreak. Please restore my heart, and fill me with hope for the future. Help me to move on from this breakup, and deal with any anger, or ill feelings that I may be experiencing.

I don’t want to hold onto things or people that will change, I want to hold onto You. You are the only one who will never change. Help me to find my hope in You. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
