Use these 7 Prayers For My Wife to pray for her to grow in joy, her mind to be renewed, her reliance, her identity in Christ, and more.

If there is one thing your wife needs, it is prayer.

The world we live in today has not only placed unrealistic expectations on women to look or act a certain way. But it also has become a big platform that compares, competes, and promotes a way of living and thinking that is so far removed from what scripture teaches us.

It is difficult to reject, and resist those worldly standards and to truly rely on God’s truth on who she is, and where her value lies.

Beyond that, your wife’s needs are best met through her relationship with the Lord. Although you, as her husband, have a significant role to play in her life, God remains the main character in every one of our stories.

Her ultimate strength and satisfaction lies in Him, and she can begin to grow in that as you labor for her in loving prayer.

Prayer to grow in joy

Lord, thank You for blessing my life with my wife’s life. Your Word says that he who finds a wife, finds a good thing. And I have certainly received that and so much more from her. I thank You for the joy that she brings me, and pray that we would not only share joy together, but that the source of that joy would be found in You.

You know the day to day situations and worries that rob her of joy. You are aware of the frustrations that she deals with and the challenges that she faces that often discourage her and deplete her from experiencing true joy. When she is faced with those difficulties, please help her to turn to You, and find Your joy that transcends all our hardships.

Help her to experience more than just happiness, but to grow in Your joy that outlives our circumstances and difficulties. Let the joy of the Lord become her strength. Help her to find Your joy available to her in every circumstance and surround her with community that will build her up and carry her burdens with her. Help me to be that person for her as well.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

Prayer for her mind to be renewed

Father, I cannot express how thankful I am for the Word. It can be so easy to neglect it sometimes and to forget that we are not only engaging with words on a page, but that we are growing in our relationship with You as we dive into Your Word.

As we look into scripture, we not only get to know You, but it becomes a mirror in our lives. We begin to see ourselves in scripture. We recognize just how far we have missed the mark, and the extent of the grace and love that You have given us. But not only that, we get to see what a new life in Christ looks like. A life where our hearts are transformed and our minds are renewed from its old, sinful way of thinking.

My prayer is that You would lead my wife to have a deeply rooted relationship with You through Your Word. Help her to grow in consistency, as she spends time in scripture and to be challenged by Your Word. Break down patterns of thinking that don’t align with Your Word and renew her mind, that it may be set on the things above and not on the things below.

In Jesus name, I pray, amen.

Prayer for her reliance on Him

Heavenly Father, there is none like You. It is such a blessing that we can know You. It is so tempting to go through life relying on our own strength, wisdom or understanding. No matter how wise, strong or perceptive we think we may be, none of it compares to Your wisdom, strength and understanding.

My prayer is that You would lead my wife into a newfound reliance on You. Not only in the parts of her life that feel overwhelming, but in the smallest of things. Help her to recognize that You care for her, and that it includes the day to day aspects of her life too.

As her husband, my prayer is that I can be a strength for her. But Lord, I know I cannot be her pillar of strength. I will fail her at times, but You never fail. Please, help me to commit her to You and help me to repent of any reliance that I have mistakenly placed on myself, when You are first in her life. Help her to grow in her reliance on You. Your guidance, comfort, strength, wisdom and understanding.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

Prayer to fill her with His Spirit

Father God, thank You for sending Jesus. Jesus, thank You, that You came, and gave us Your Holy Spirit, not only as an assurance of our salvation, but as our Helper in this life. I praise You for bringing my wife into a relationship with You and for working in her heart the way You have so far.

I thank You that she not only has Your Spirit living in her, but that it is Your will for her to live a Spirit-filled life. My prayer is that You would fill her with Your Spirit. That she might be empowered to walk in the Spirit, reflecting in love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, faithfulness, forgiveness, long suffering, and self-control.

I pray that Your Spirit would lead her to grow in her spiritual gifts and to serve those around her and the body of Christ, as You have called her to. I pray that she would grow in discernment, and that Your Holy Spirit would give her the strength to flee from temptation and to turn to You.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

Prayer to keep her from comparison

Lord, I pray that You would protect my precious wife from the urge to compare. These days the lives of other people are so easily accessible that we can know so much about people who we have never met. Sadly, what we see most often are highlight reels of their lives and we compare their pictures to our reality.

You know more than anyone where my wife struggles with comparison. Whether that is in the way that she looks, her personality, her lifestyle, in being a wife, mom or friend, in her work or creativity. You know where comparison eats away at her most.

Please help her to recognize that her life was never meant to be compared to others, especially not to what others choose to show. Help her to see the gift in the life that You have given her, and to repent from any jealousy or coveting towards the lives of others. Instead, help her to grow in gratitude and to find her contentment not in any circumstance, or material possession, but to find true satisfaction in You and You alone.

It’s in Your Name, I pray, amen.

Prayer for godly friendships

Lord, thank You for the sweet gift of community. It is not always easy to find genuine friendships, especially not as adults with our busy schedules. But nonetheless, I know that it is important for us to have people in our lives who encourage us toward You and make us better.

My prayer for my wife is that You would not only bring true godly community into her life, but that she would be that answered prayer for someone else as well. I pray that You would give her wisdom to walk away from any friendships that hinder her relationship with You and her overall growth. And that You would give her peace in those friendships that You have purposed for her.

Surround her with friends that care for her, deeply, love her unconditionally, challenge her when needed, who encourage her continually, and who have a shared love for You. May those friendships be like iron sharpening iron. May they be one picking up the other when they fall. And may they stick closer than a sister.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

Prayer for her identity in Christ

Father, it is such a glorious truth that we get to live in a new identity in Christ. We no longer have to look toward the world to tell us who we are. We can look to You, our Creator, who not only made us, but who has given us a new identity in Jesus our Lord.

My prayer is that You would remind my wife of this new identity and reality that You have brought her into. When she struggles with issues from her past or present thoughts, or ideas that taint her understanding of who she is in You, please lead here to turn to Your truth.

Help her to live in the freedom that You have purchased for her. A freedom that is free from sin and shame. A life that is free from condemnation because of what Jesus has done for her. Help her to not only know those truths but to believe it. And most importantly, to live it out.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
