Say these short prayers of praise for worship leaders during your church service to lead your congregation into deeper worship as they praise God.

Worship leaders serve a unique role in the church. In a way, they are the frontline that equips the congregation to prepare their hearts for worship and to receive the Word that is preached.

It is not eloquent words, beautiful melodies, or singsong voices that move the heart of God, rather it is the surrender of our hearts into His hands. And there is no better way to do this than to seek God in prayer.

If you are a worship leader looking for prayers of praise to incorporate during the church service, we hope that these prayers will inspire you, and lead the church into a deep and attentive time of worship and praise.

1. A Prayer of Praise To Open The Service

Heavenly Father,

We are so grateful for the privilege of gathering together in Your presence today. As we look forward to the service, we look to You as our hope and the reason for our praise.

We ask that You prepare our hearts, and minds to worship You, and bring You the glory and honor that You deserve. May our hearts be fertile ground for You to work on, and may our minds be fixed on You alone.

Help us to lay down all our burdens and anxieties before You, and to offer our hearts and lives as a living sacrifice for Your name’s sake. May we lift our praise without shame, and seek only to bring You glory.

May our worship be a pleasing and sweet smelling offering to You, and bring You honor. Fill us with Your Spirit, and lead us by Your Word. In Jesus’ name, amen.

2. A Prayer For Your Call To Worship

Glorious God,

We come to You today, acknowledging that all glory and honor belong to Your name. We ask that the words of our lips and the posture of our hearts align with Your Word, and remain steadfast in the truth.

Help us to draw near to You as we sing Your praises, and rid us of any thoughts that distract us from being present, and engaged with You. Please keep our eyes fixed on You, and our hearts open to Your leading.

I ask for Your grace and strength to lead Your church in worship. May my heart be filled with gladness as I sing to You, and encourage my brothers and sisters through the words of these songs.

We ask that You would knit us together as we sing in union, the praises of Your name. May we behold You in Your majesty, and bring our offering of praise. In Jesus’ name, amen.

3. A Worship Prayer From The Psalms

Psalm 34:1-9

I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. I will glory in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together.

I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. This poor man called, and the Lord heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles.

The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. Fear the Lord, you his holy people, for those who fear him lack nothing.

4. A Prayer Of Thanksgiving

Father,

There is nothing that we can hide from Your presence. As we are gathered, You know the very condition of each and every one of our hearts. You know our anxious thoughts and You know the burdens that weigh us down.

We confess that it is often so easy to grumble and complain and fix our eyes on the things that don’t seem to be going well. Yet, You have called us to show gratitude in every circumstance, because You are good despite our circumstances.

Thank You for the ways in which You are working in our lives each day. Thank You for Your mercies that are new, and for Your love that we can never be separated from. May we live in the light of Your love, and see the world through the lens of Your Word.

We give You thanks for Your patience with us. Thank You for Your unmerited grace and goodness that we get to live in every day. Help us to recognize Your blessings, and trade in our grumbling for gratitude. In Jesus’ name, amen.

5. A Prayer Of Adoration

Heavenly Father,

We lift up our hearts to You today in love and adoration. There is none like You in all the earth. None who compares to Your glorious power. None who match Your endless wisdom. None who possess Your holiness. Lord, You are worthy to be praised!

Though we were once lifeless, and without hope, You brought us from death to life. And You have purchased for us a living and eternal hope. A hope that is not perishable, but that is hidden with Christ, whose return we await with anticipation and joy

Though heaven is Your throne and the earth is Your footstool, You have chosen to dwell among us and make us Your temple. We cannot thank You enough for Your unmerited grace, and outpouring of love towards us.

As we lift our voices in praise to You today, we ask that our hearts might behold Your beauty and majesty. May we honor You as King not only in song but in every crevice and corner of our lives. In Jesus’ name, amen.

6. A Prayer Of Awe & Wonder At What God Has Done

Lord,

As we gather to bring You praise, we ask that You remind us of Your faithfulness today. When we are prone to forget Your works, and look only to the future, help us to reflect not only on Your present faithfulness but Your faithfulness through the ages.

How can we not awe at Your wonder working power that has transferred us from the domain of darkness into the kingdom of Your Son? How can we ever forget to wonder at the mystery of salvation, and how You have credited the righteousness of Christ to us?

The only response is utter awe and adoration, and that is what we bring to You today, Lord. We thank You for Your faithfulness despite our countless times of unfaithfulness. We thank You for Your love that has drawn us from the pit and set our feet on a rock.

Thank You for not only what You have done, and the work that You have accomplished through Jesus Christ our Savior. But thank You for the continual work that You are doing in us, and that You will complete at His coming. May we live each day looking forward to that hope that was, is, and is to come. In Jesus’ name, amen.

7. A Prayer For A Lifestyle Of Worship

Heavenly Father,

I pray for every person who has gathered here today. As we bring You worship through song, my prayer is that You would help our worship to extend beyond the words we sing and infiltrate every part of our lives.

Please help us not only to be Sunday morning Christians but to seek You daily. May You be the cornerstone that our lives are built on, and the guiding light in our path.

Help us to not only worship You here this morning but to worship You in our thoughts, in our speech, and in our deeds. May we worship You in the decisions we make and the things we prioritize.

We ask for lives that are committed to Christ, and that are a testimony of Your power, grace, and love to those around us. In Jesus’ name, amen.

8. A Prayer To Invite God’s Presence

Father,

Your Word says when we draw near to You, You will draw near to us. As I prepare to worship You this day, we ask that Your presence would fill this place, and be at work in every heart.

Please help us to set aside every distraction, and to fix our eyes on You alone. We ask that You soften the ground of our hearts and that You would plant the seed of Your incorruptible Word deep within them.

Help us to be sensitive to Your Spirit, and attentive to Your Word. May our hearts be filled with Your peace, and amazed by Your love. In Jesus’ name, amen.

9. A Closing Prayer To End The Service

Lord,

We thank You for this time of worship, and that we could gather together as one under Christ. We are grateful for Your love that has made us new and brought us from death to life.

As the service comes to an end, we ask that our worship will not cease, but continue into every area of our lives. May we be encouraged by the Word that was preached, and submit ourselves to it, not merely being hearers but doers of Your Word.

We ask that You mold us into the image of Your Son, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Helps us to confess our sins before You, knowing and trusting that You are faithful and just to forgive us of our sins. In Jesus’ name, amen.
