Encouraging Bible Verses to Get Pregnant

“Isaac prayed to the Lord on behalf of his wife, because she was childless. The Lord answered his prayer, and his wife Rebekah became pregnant.”

Genesis 25:21

When you’re trying to get pregnant it can feel like there is a lot of pressure on you. On your body and your ability to conceive and it can feel like a lonely place. When Rebekah struggled to conceive we don’t simply see her prayers for a child but we read of her husband’s petition to the Lord.

It was not only her burden to bear but those around her who cared for her. If there are people in your life who you care for and who care for you, I encourage you to share your struggles with them and to invite them to pray alongside you.

“I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.”

Psalm 130:5

This is a season of waiting, isn’t it? As you try to conceive there is a lot of anticipation. The way you wait during this time makes a big difference. Are you waiting in impatience, or are you waiting in the Lord? Or rather, are you waiting on the Lord, patiently enduring through this

difficulty? You may find yourself on either side of the spectrum depending on the day, but each day He gives you the opportunity to say “Lord, I wait on You, for as long as it takes, I will wait on You.”

“And by faith even Sarah, who was past childbearing age, was enabled to bear children because she considered him faithful who had made the promise. And so from this one man, and he as good as dead, came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand on the seashore.”

Hebrews 11:11-12

There are numerous stories of women in the bible who struggled with infertility or barrenness. One of the most popular stories is that of Abraham and his wife Sara.

Not only was she barre but we’re told that she was well beyond childbearing age. In plain terms, physically, there was no way she would fall pregnant.

But God.

He had different plans for her, and through His divine power, He made what seemed impossible possible. He can do the same for you if He so wills.

“Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.”

Romans 5:3-5

We all face different trials in life. This may be the trial that you are finding yourself in. During this trial, there is great hope that you can cling to as a Christian. The trial you are facing is producing perseverance in you, which will shape your character, and ultimately, as God shapes you, you will grow in hope.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Proverbs 3:5-6

There are so many helpful things out there that can help you as you try to conceive. And there are things that are not so helpful because they turn your eyes off of the Lord, and become things we trust in, instead of the Lord. If you’ve been struggling with trusting the Lord, or relying heavily on other methods, I want to encourage you to come back to a place of trust in the Lord. Those methods may be helpful but the Lord alone is where your trust lies.

Prayers to get pregnant

For God’s will to be done

Lord, if anyone knows the depths of my desire to fall pregnant it is You. You know how much I long to have a child who I can love and lead in Your way.

As great as my desire is, I know Lord, that it is not in my will that anything takes place but in Your will. Your will is good and perfect. That is why I am praying to You today.

I pray that You will prepare my body for conception. That it would please You to bless us with a child who is made in Your image. As we try for a baby, I pray that You will help me to surrender my will to Your will and most importantly to Your time.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

To dedicate your child to God

Lord, You are the one who has the power to give and to take away. In my heart, there are so many different reasons as to why I desire to fall pregnant and to have a child. But I know that there is no greater hope and purpose for my future child than for me to dedicate them to You.

If it is Your will to bless me with a child, I vow to give them back to You. I know that they are Yours, and I will do my best to guide them in Your truth and lead them on the path of life.

I will trust You with their life, Lord, and show them Christ through the way that I parent, in my speech, and in my actions because at the end of the day it is all about You. Their lives are for your glory just as mine is. Help me to trust You with them even before I conceive them.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

A fruitful womb

Heavenly Father, I thank You for this amazing body that You have given me. Thank You for my womb, which You have woven together with the potential to carry new life in it.

From the very beginning, Lord, it has been not only Your desire but Your instruction for us to be fruitful and bring children into the world. I know that we live in a broken world, and because of sin we face struggles with fertility and trying to conceive.

Just as You have made my womb, I know that You have the ability to close and open my womb. Please let my womb be fruitful, that I may bear children who reflect Your faithfulness.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

For the blessing of a child

Lord, You give good gifts. I know that children are one of those gifts that You bless us with. I see the joy that others experience through motherhood, and their growing family, and I ask that You would look on me, Lord, and bless me.

Every passing month has come with hope and disappointment, and I have grown weary Lord. But I know that You are trustworthy, I know that Your timing is perfect.

When the time comes, I pray that You would bless our family with the gift of new life. I pray that our home would be filled with the joyous laughter of children and that Your love would surround us.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

To keep trying despite disappointment

Loving Father, You see my highs and lows. There isn’t anything throughout this journey that You aren’t aware of. You have seen our efforts, and how weary we’ve become.

Sometimes it feels as though it will never happen for us, Lord, and I feel discouraged to try only to be disappointed again.

But I know that it isn’t my time, but Your time that matters most, Lord. In the depths of my despair, I pray that You would lift me up, carry me out and help me try again, knowing when it is time that You will make it happen.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

The Lord sees your desire for a child, and your prayer does not go unheard. As you keep trying to fall pregnant, remain in His presence. I hope these prayers will lift up your heart and keep your eyes on Him, the one who will make it happen at the right time.
