Are you struggling with money? These prayers for financial breakthroughs offer peace, hope, and guidance to overcome challenges.
Sometimes we face difficulties in life. One of those struggles that you may encounter in life is in your finances.
It can be stressful when your needs and responsibilities are met with empty or insufficient funds. Whether you are out of a job, working a job that isn’t paying very much, or not sure how you are going to make ends meet, you can bring your needs before God in prayer.
As Christians, we can come to God in prayer for many things in our lives. In the Lord’s Prayer that Jesus teaches His disciples, one of the things He teaches them to pray about is for their needs. You can come to God in prayer, asking that He provides for you in your needs, knowing that He hears you.
It can be easy to feel ridden with anxiety, or as though God has forgotten about you when you are struggling with financial troubles. But I hope that these prayers will not only encourage you, but give you hope, as you remember who God is and His care for you.
5 Prayers for Financial Breakthrough
1. Prayer for Anxiety During Financial Needs
“Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.” – Matthew 6:31-32
When you’re dealing with financial difficulties, it is easy to become filled with anxiety and fear of the future. Your thoughts may become consumed by your finances or the bills that need to be paid. Though this is a natural human response, for us as Christians God has given us a different way. In Matthew 6:31-32 Jesus says that you don’t have to be anxious about your daily needs, what you will eat, or what you will wear. Why? Because your Heavenly Father knows that you need them. As believers, we can come to Him, and ask Him to rid us of our anxiety, and provide for us in the ways that we need.
Heavenly Father,
Sometimes it is easy to forget that You never forget. When I am in the midst of a trial, or when I am anxious about my needs, and how they will be met. You won’t forget about me. Though I may feel that way at times, Your word says otherwise, and I ask that You would help me to hold onto Your word, instead of my feelings.
I want to thank You for how You have provided for me throughout the year, and how You have carried me on Your wings. I admit that I am struggling with anxious thoughts, and I don’t know how my needs are going to be met. But You already know what I need, and it is not those thoughts that I should fix my eyes on, but rather You. You alone can, and have provided for me, and I ask that You would do it again, Lord. Please put my anxiety to ease, and help me trust in You for Your providence. In Jesus’ name, amen.
2. Prayer to Become a Generous Giver
“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” – Corinthians 9:7
It may seem strange to include a prayer about generosity among prayers for financial breakthrough, however our giving is just as, and possibly more important than our receiving. There are many ways that we can give, whether that is through our time, resources, or spiritual gifts. God loves a cheerful giver, and He knows the kind of heart that we give with. Even in our time of need, it is important to remember to give to God, even if it is just in your time or serving. Though we are trusting God to provide for our needs, we are also showing Him that we will serve Him regardless of whether we are in lack, or not. It is all about the heart.
Lord,
Thank You so much for all that You are and have done for me. I know sometimes it is easy to get caught up in what I need from You, and put aside how I can serve You, and give to You, even in the midst of my needs. Please forgive me for the times when I forget that I am still able to serve as I wait and trust You to provide a financial breakthrough.
I ask that You would mold my heart into one that is generous towards others, and toward Your Kingdom. Not only when I have much, but even in times when I have little. Help me to see opportunities where I can be generous with my time, resources or spiritual gifts. As I fix my eyes on You, I give You my worries, and ask that You would bless me with Your generous providence. In Jesus’ name, amen.
3. Prayer to Trust in God’s Providence
“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” – Matthew 6:25-26
It is a human instinct to feel worried about our needs. When you are in need of a financial breakthrough, when your daily needs are suffering from a lack of finances, those thoughts of anxiety can grow even greater. Yet, these very thoughts that we struggle with are thoughts that Jesus has addressed for us. This is something that we can be encouraged by, because He not only knew that we would struggle with this, but has also shown us what to do during those times.
The first thing He says is don’t be anxious. That sounds easier said than done right? But He reminds us why we don’t have to be anxious. That is because our Heavenly Father who feeds the birds, who don’t sow or reap, is able to feed us too. And we are of much more value than the birds to Him, which emphasizes His point even more.
Father in Heaven,
Thank You for giving me a new day. At times, it can be easy to take it for granted, and forget that no one is promised a new day. Sometimes a new day can feel as though it is being clouded by thoughts of anxiety because l don’t know how I am going to make it through financially. But I realize that the God who has made the day, is also more than capable of providing for the day.
Whenever I feel anxious, please remind me how You look after the birds of the air each day. They don’t work or worry about their next meal, because You feed them each day. I ask that You would help me to trust in Your character. If You look after the birds of the air, how much more will You look after me, who You have made in Your image? Please help me to remember this whenever I feel anxious about my needs. Help me to turn to You in prayer, to bring my needs to You, and to lay down my anxious thoughts before You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
4. Prayer for God’s Peace
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:6-7
If you are struggling financially, you may feel a lack of peace. Especially if you are feeling anxious, there may be no room for peace. Sometimes we think that peace and our situation always go hand in hand. If we have everything we need, then we will be at peace. But if we are in need, then we have no peace at all. But scripture teaches us a different kind of peace. This is a peace that is not dependent on our situation, but on the one who gives true peace – God.
We can only experience this peace when we look to Christ, and we bring our requests and thanksgiving to God. Instead of depending on our own understanding, and allowing anxiety to overwhelm us, we have the opportunity to turn to God, in every situation and not only to praise Him but to ask for what we need. When we trust in God during our circumstances, He gives us something that nothing can steal from us – His peace that surpasses all understanding.
Lord,
I am so thankful that I get the opportunity to come to You in prayer, at any time, at any place. Thank You for never turning me away, and for welcoming me into Your presence. I know that You already know what I need today, and I ask that You would please provide for me in my finances. I don’t want to be consumed with anxious thoughts. But I confess that there are times when it is all that I can think about.
Please forgive me for those times when I fix my eyes on the temporary, instead of on You. No matter the situation, or the need, I ask that You would help me to turn to You. Help me to remember how You have provided for me in the past, and continue to care for me. May my heart be overflowing in gratitude for who You are, and what You have done for me already.
I ask that You would bring a financial breakthrough in my life. May it be something that I can’t take credit for, but can only give You the glory for. As I turn to You, and trust in You, I ask that You would take away my anxiety and guard my heart and mind with Your peace. In Jesus’ name, amen.
5. Prayer to Remember God’s Sovereignty
“Sovereign Lord,” they said, “you made the heavens and the earth and the sea, and everything in them.” – Acts 4:24
There is no better place to be than in God’s presence. Whether you are in need or not, it is sobering to know that we get to have a relationship with God who has made all things. This means that there is nothing that is impossible for Him. He not only owns all things, but He is sovereign over all things, including our lives. This is especially important to remember when you are struggling with needs such as finances. Sometimes all we need is to remember who God is, and that will make everything else seem small in comparison.
Heavenly Father,
You have created everything in this world to ultimately bring Your glory. I am so thankful that I get to be a vessel for Your Kingdom, and bring You glory in my daily life. Sometimes my needs or problems can feel so overwhelming, and larger than life. But today I am reminded that You are not only greater than the struggles that I face, but that You are sovereign over all things.
There is nothing that is too big for You to face. My financial situation is not something that scares You, or that is too much or too little for You to care about. I am grateful for this truth, and that is why I come to You, asking You to pour out Your blessing on my finances. Though I may not see a way, I ask that You would make a way, even in the midst of the desert. In Jesus’ name, amen.
