Dear Lord,

You have created my children for Your good pleasure. I know that there is no greater place for them to be than in Your presence. Though I may try to figure out where they stand with You. You alone know their every thought and heart’s desire. There is nothing they can think or do that is unknown to You, Lord. That gives me great comfort. My prayer for my children is that they would draw near to You. Your Word says that You will come near to those who come near to You, Lord.

When they are searching for something that will fulfill them, help them to see that true contentment is only found in You. As they go through life, help them to realize that all other things will falter and fail, but You remain the same. Please give them a desire to seek Your face and to know You in a greater capacity. As they search for You, Lord, may Your Word become a guiding light in their lives. May they depend on You, and worship You, all the days of their lives.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the gift of being a parent. Though it is not an easy task, and I have experienced many frustrations, there is a sacred joy that comes with raising a child. Thank You for showing me an example of the love, grace, wisdom and discipline of a parent. I acknowledge that I have fallen short in many ways, and that my relationship with my children has room to grow.

You know the hurt that lies between my children and I. If there is anything that hasn’t come to light, Lord, I pray that You would help us to talk about it. I pray You will bring opportunity for restoration in our relationship and help us to mend any places that have been broken. Father,

I’m so grateful that You have given us Your Word. It is a lamp for our feet, and a light for the path in front of us. Just like me, my children need wisdom in this stage of their lives. They need Your wisdom as they make decisions every day. Some decisions will have a little impact on their lives, but others have the ability to change their lives and the lives of other people drastically. For the good, or for the bad.

My prayer is that You would guide them in making wise decisions. When they are faced with a challenging decision, I pray that they will seek You out in prayer. May they root their life choices and values in the truth of Your good news. Remind them of the eternal value the choices they make today serve. And help them to grow and mature through even the poor decisions. In all things, may their life decisions lead them back to You.

Father God,

It’s hard for me to comprehend all of the harm that You have kept me and my children from throughout life. The fact that I have an adult child is testament to Your kindness, in allowing

them to see as many years as they have. There was a time where I could shield my children from plenty of pitfalls, but now they are out of my care. I am seeing just how this has brought a greater need for me to trust You with their lives. When they awake and when they go into the world, would You please go ahead of them?

Please protect my children from anything that would cause them to suffer harm. Help them to be cautious and wise about the people they befriend and the places that they go. I pray that they will find a hiding place in You. And that the world and its influences would not entice them. Please protect them not only physically, but mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Dear Lord,

You have led Your people all throughout history. I know that You are a faithful guide and a trustworthy compass for our lives. My adult children now have their own lives, and with that comes deciding what route to take. Whether that is in the work that they do, the place that they live, the person they choose to be with. These decisions all have the ability to change their lives drastically.

My prayer is that You will lead them in the way they should go. When they come to face a fork in the road, would You give them clarity and light up their path. Help them to seek You in the different areas of their lives and to desire Your will for them. When they are in doubt, I pray that You will surround them with those who are wise and will point them back to You. Remind them to make You a part of their life decisions, and to seek Your will for their lives.

Father,

Thank You for Your providing hand over myself and my family all these years. The stress of not having enough, or not being able to make it through the week, is something that many of us find ourselves struggling with. Please help not only my adult children, but myself remember that all good things come from You. I specifically want to pray for my children’s finances.

I pray that they would trust You to provide for them day to day. When they are earning well, I pray that they would be generous yet wise with their money. When they are struggling to make ends meet, I pray that You would help them to steward the little that they have well, and to rely

on You. I pray that their spending habits would be glorifying to You and a blessing to those around them. No matter the number on their bank account, I pray that You would help them to find contentment in You.

Prayer For Your Adult Children’s Growth

Father in Heaven,

It is so amazing to know that we who were once far off, can now come near to You. In John 15 You show us that we are like branches that need to be attached to the Vine to grow. You are the Vine, Lord and apart from You, we can do nothing. My prayer is that my adult children would be connected to You as a branch is to a vine. I pray that their roots will be firmly planted in Your truth. No matter what season they find themselves in, whether the sun is scorching or the wind is blowing, I pray that they grow in and out of season.

May they not only grow spiritually, in their knowledge of You and their relationship with You. But I pray that through it, You would mold and shape them to look more like You. I pray that their character would be refined, and that it would encourage further growth in their relationships, in their career and in the way that they live their lives. May their changed hearts and lives be a picture of Your goodness and love.
