Want a perfect way to start your workday? Pray to God to bless your day! Here are 7 morning prayers for work to get your day going right.

For most people, work is an integral part of our lives. As Christians, we have the great opportunity to see work not only as another thing to get checked off of the day, but as a place where we can serve Christ, and reflect His character to those around us.

We all know that work can be stressful and that it can impact us in an array of ways. The good news is that we can start each day of work by committing it to the Lord and asking Him to guide us and give us the strength we need to make it through the day.

If that is something you need today, here are 7 morning prayers to start your work day.

1. Prayer for the Work Day

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” – Proverbs 16:3

Lord,

Thank You for blessing me with a new day! Though I may not always remember to thank You for my job, I want to start the work day by giving thanks to You for how You have provided for me and brought this job into my life.

As I start the day, and prepare for work, I ask that You would help me to commit my time at work to You. Help me to see it through grateful eyes, as I remember through this job, I am able to pay my bills and more.

I ask that You would help me to dedicate my time at work to You, and do all my tasks with enthusiasm and focus. May the way that I work, not only through my actions, but also through my words and attitude, bring glory to You in my workplace.

Please help me to renew my thinking about work each day, and to see it as a gift rather than something that keeps me from the better parts of life. For as long as You have me in this position, help me to serve You as best as I can. In Jesus’ name, amen.

2. Prayer Before Work Meeting

“Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!” – Psalm 90:17

Father,

As I and my co-workers prepare to go into this meeting, I ask that You would help us lay aside any selfish ambition, and come together considering one another. Help us to set aside pride, and to show one another respect.

You know the conversations that we will need to have, and the conflict that could arise from it. I ask that You would help us to give one another the opportunity to share our thoughts and to listen patiently while trying to come to an agreement on the best way forward.

I ask that Your grace and favor would be on us as we meet, and that You would direct our conversation so that it would be productive and fruitful. Help us honor one another’s strengths, and support each other as a team.

Please establish the work of our hands, and help us to carry out the decisions and tasks that we decide upon successfully. In Jesus’ name, amen.

3. Prayer of Encouragement for Work

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” – Colossians 3:23

Gracious God,

Thank You for Your kindness towards me, and for the opportunity to work not only out of compulsion, but as a way to honor You, and bring You glory.

It is not always easy to feel encouraged when it comes to work. Sometimes I have to drag myself out of bed, and other times I wish I could be doing something else. But I know You have me here right now, and that is more reason for me to look ahead with determination rather than discouragement.

On those mornings when I feel less than ready to go to work, I ask that You would lift up my head, and help me to look to You for strength and encouragement.

Help me not to only do the bare minimum at work, or to complain throughout my work, but rather to focus my energy on working with all my heart, knowing that I am ultimately working for You, and not for human masters.

Please remind me that my inheritance comes from You, and that the quality of my work is an important part of serving You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

4. Prayer for Protection at Work

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” – Deuteronomy 31:6

Lord,

As I prepare to leave home and commute to work, I ask that You place Your protection all around me. Please be with me as I travel to work, and keep me vigilant and safe from any physical dangers that lurk around.

Remind me of Your presence, and that You are always with me, no matter where I go. Even in the workplace, I ask that You protect me from those who may have wrongful intentions towards me. Please keep their plans from succeeding, and keep me safe in the palm of Your hands.

If there is ever a time where You are convicting me concerning something at work, help me not to shy away in fear, but give me the courage and humility to speak up, or to follow Your guidance

I ask that You place Your protection all around me, and keep me from compromising Your word to fit in at work, or to appear more worldly. Help me to stand firm in the face of persecution at work, and to hide behind You as my shield. In Jesus’ name, amen.

5. Prayer to Honor God in Your Work

“Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people.” – Ephesians 6:6-7

Lord,

Thank You for the opportunity to serve You in the workplace. I know I at times forget that my job is not only a task that is meant to rush through as quickly as possible, but an opportunity to honor You in what I do.

Please help me not to do my work only when I am being watched, or observed, but to do it with a servant’s heart, even when no one is watching. Remind me that You are always present, and can see the attitude with which I do my work.

May I not only do Your will out of obligation, but may I do it from my heart, because of the love of Christ that compels me. When I feel discouraged or overlooked by others, help me to serve wholeheartedly, knowing that it is You that I serve.

May my work be a pleasing reflection of Christ, and help me to practice patience, grace, steadfastness, forgiveness, joy and faithfulness in all my tasks and interactions at work. In Jesus’ name, amen.

6. Prayer for Peaceful Relationships with Co-Workers

“If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.” – Romans 12:18

Father,

Thank You for those who You have placed around me at work. I know that we all come from different backgrounds and many of us do not share a lot in common. But one thing is certain, that You have placed these specific people around me.

Though we may not agree on many things, I ask that You would help us all to deal with one another in a respectful manner. Please keep us from excluding one another, or creating division among the team.

I ask that You would help us to keep from gossiping and speaking badly of one another. May we encourage each other, and build one another up, knowing that a team divided cannot accomplish what a team united can.

As far as it depends upon me, help me to live at peace with my co-workers, and to be a peacemaker, rather than someone who brings division. Please help us to have open communication and to deal with any conflict in a healthy, God-honoring way. In Jesus’ name, amen.

7. Prayer for Job Security

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” – Proverbs 3:5-6

Lord,

I don’t know where I would be without You. There have been so many nights where I have worried, and times when I have feared what the day would hold, yet You hold each one in place. Thank You for being a constant in my life, and for Your daily care and provision.

I am grateful that You have given me this job, and a way to make a living. I know that there are many people who are without jobs and that it can be easy to take it for granted when you do have one.

I know nothing is guaranteed, so all I can ask is that You would take care of me and my loved ones. Please help me to trust in You, and not in my own understanding or ways.

I ask that You would please help me to keep my job and provide job security for the future, whether it is this job or a different opportunity that You have for me. No matter where I find myself, help me to submit my ways to You in faith. In Jesus’ name, amen.
