  1. Prayer to Restore Emotional Well-Being

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit. The Lord sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground.” – Psalm 147:3-6

Heavenly Father,

Today all I can manage to do is fall before You in brokenness. I know that You are fully aware of everything that I am experiencing, and the pain that I have endured.

It is hard to imagine that this hurt could ever be mended or that my well-being could improve from the blow that it has taken. Yet, I am reminded in Your word that You are the one who heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds.

My heart is in desperate need of Your healing hands today. Please help me to bear it all to You, and to be transparent about what is going on inside of my heart and mind.

I ask that You make known to me any obstacles that are keeping me from being able to move forward in healing from this heartache. If there is any way within me that is causing me to further distance myself from You or that is keeping me stuck in the same place, I ask that You would make me aware of it.

Please help me to forgive, where forgiveness is needed, help me to trust You, in the areas where I am fearful or have held back. I ask that You would do what only You can do, by restoring my emotional well-being.

Please bound up my wounds, and heal them.  Remind me that you sustain the humble, and grant me a heart that is humble towards You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

  1. Prayer for God’s Healing Presence

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” – Psalm 34:18

Lord,

You are good to me. Thank You so much for always being there at all times. When I am up or when I am down, I know that You are always there for me to turn to. Today I am turning to You because my heart is in need of Your healing presence. My heart feels so shattered, and I don’t know how to put all the pieces back together again.

I know the things of the world only serve as distractions from true healing, and that they cannot satisfy my heart, or bring the restoration that I am in need of. In this brokenness, it is so easy to feel alone, like no one truly cares or understands what I am going through.

But today I am reminded that nothing is hidden from Your sight. You see every tear that I shed, every thought that I have, and every feeling that I experience.

I am reminded that Your word says that You are close to those with a broken heart. Please help me to draw near to You. I ask that You would be near to me, take this broken heart and bind it back together.

I ask that You would shower my heart with Your peace in a way that I have never known. May my heart know that You are close and that I am safe in Your presence. May my soul know the depths of Your grace as I find rest and comfort in You during this troubled time. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

  1. Prayer for a Forgiving Heart

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” – Ephesians 4:32

Dear God,

Where do I even begin? I am overwhelmed with the knowledge of Your grace and love toward me today. The fact that there was nothing that I did to deserve Your love and kindness towards me, yet You lavished it on me.

While I was a sinner, a sinner who could not give You a single thought, or who did as I pleased, You chose to send Your only Son to take my place on the cross. Thank You so much for Your grace towards me. Thank You for loving me despite myself and for being faithful even when I am unfaithful.

I must confess, it is hard to forgive when your heart has been torn in two. It is as if the tear has opened up room for bitterness, unforgiveness, distrust and a growing feeling of hatred.

I know that none of those things reflect the fruit of the Spirit. They are evidence of the works of the flesh, and I admit that I have seen some of them grow in my heart. My prayer is that You would help me to surrender any hurt that I have experienced to You.

I know that it is not my place to return evil for evil and that holding onto the hurt and allowing it to turn into bitterness is only poisoning my own heart and mind.

In the same way that I did nothing to deserve Your forgiveness for my sins, I ask that You would help me to forgive those who have hurt me, whether or not they apologize, and whether or not something changes. Help me to be kind and compassionate and forgive others as you have forgiven me. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

  1. Prayer for Peace of Mind

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” – Matthew 11:28-30

Lord,

I am in need of Your peace that surpasses all understanding today. The more I try to make sense of events, and the things that I am feeling, the more confused and uneasy I feel. I know I can’t pretend that I am not hurt, or that my heart isn’t pained, but I know that even through the pain there is peace found in Your presence.

I need that peace of Yours more than ever. When my mind wanders and runs away with me. When my thoughts become heavy with lies and negativity that leads me further away from You rather than closer to You. When my mind won’t stop racing, and my heart feels like it might just burst, I ask that You hold me tight in those moments.

I ask that Your Holy Spirit would shower me with peace, and comfort me in my hurt. Please remind me that You are always near, and that I can reach out to You in prayer.

Though my circumstances may not always make sense, I ask that You would help me to trust in Your wisdom, and to rest in Your peace. Help me to unload all these thoughts that weigh me down, and fill my mind with Your holy word. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

  1. Prayer for the Joy of the Lord to Strengthen You

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” – Romans 15:13

Father,

I am so grateful that I get to call You, Abba. Even when I feel at my lowest or at my loneliest, the fact that You are my Father reminds me that I will always have You right there, waiting for me to turn to You, and to receive Your gift of joy, strength, peace, and love.

I admit, I have felt so broken down lately, that all the joy has felt like it has escaped me. My heart has felt so hurt, that I have struggled to find the strength to make it through some days.

Yet, I’m reminded that even the strength to pray to You today is something that You have given me. Though the dark nights feel long, I know that Your sun shines on me, and Your mercies are new each day. Thank You for allowing me to share in these truths.

As I start each day, I ask that You would fill me with Your Spirit. Help me to prioritize my relationship with You, and grow my desire to be in Your word, and in communion with You through prayer.

May Your word be my strength, and the truth that I hold onto throughout my day. When lies arise, or it feels as though there is no reason for joy, help me to lean on the joy that You give. Fill me with extraordinary joy, and peace as I grow in my trust in You. May I be filled with hope, as Your Holy Spirit works in me. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
